FAQs

What’s included in the box?

All FreeMotion battery packs include a battery pack, a charger and an AC cord. An Owner’s manual with instructions are also included with all products.

Can I let my battery completely lose its charge?

Like most Lithium Ion batteries, completely discharging your FreeMotion battery pack is not recommended and may cause battery failure. The battery is equipped with a 20-minute audible low-battery warning signal. Remember, you can use your recliner while recharging the battery.

How long will my battery last unused?

All three FreeMotion battery models (P25, P50, P75) have been tested and recorded to have at least 15 months of estimated standby time on a full charge. (Making them ideal for second homes).

How long will my battery last before needing to be recharged?

The following estimates are based on tests of varied motion reclining furniture not featuring additional USB or similar functions. Full cycles will vary based on weight capacity:

  • P25 – up to 450 cycles on a full charge

  • P50 – up to 900 cycles on a full charge

  • P75 – up to 1350 cycles on a full charge

How do I know how much power is left?

Every FreeMotion battery features a power indicator that shows the estimated remaining power. To check this, press the YELLOW power indicator button when the battery is not plugged into the charger. Once you’ve plugged it in, RED indicates the battery is charging. BLUE indicates the battery pack is fully charged.

Why isn’t my meter working?

It may be hibernating. As an extra safety precaution, we built in an automatic feature that turns off all functions of the battery in any of these instances: Large impact, short circuit or high temperature. To reset your battery, simply plug it into the charger. This restores all functions.

Can I use my battery right away?

Yes, however we recommend you fully charge your battery before initial use to ensure maximum battery life.

Will a USB port drain my battery?

If used just for powering the standard motion reclining features of your chair or sofa, your FreeMotion battery can last for many months. If your recliner has LED lights, speakers, a USB port or similar, it will significantly reduce the life of the battery. In fact, many USB ports draw power even when not in use, which will require more frequent charging of your FreeMotion battery. In this case, it is important to charge your battery every month.

Why do I hear beeping?

Every FreeMotion battery is equipped with a 20-minute audible low-battery warning that will signal when your remaining battery life is below 10%, letting you know it needs to be recharged. Pressing the power meter button will stop the beeping. Remember, you can charge your battery while using your recliner.

How long does it take to recharge the battery?

Approximately 6-7 hours to fully recharge.

What kind of testing recognition do these batteries have?

FreeMotion batteries come with UL MH60644-recognition. They have also been tested and recognized for the following:

UN38.3 - Safe for air, sea and land transportation.

UL 2054 - Safety of household and commercial batteries.

UL 62368-1, 2nd Edition, 2014-12-01 – Audio/video, information and communication technology equipment - Part 1.

Check out these troubleshooting tips and ideas.

Will it work with my furniture?

FreeMotion battery packs are designed to work with recliners and reclining loveseats, sofas and sectionals from most major manufacturers.

NOTE: FreeMotion batteries ARE NOT COMPATIBLE with recliners featuring USB ports, LED lights, speakers, etc., that don’t have a smart switch or ON/OFF switch for the USB power draw.

Will it work with Lift Recliners?

A FreeMotion cordless battery pack can be used as a battery backup for lift recliners in the event of a prolonged power outage.

What kind of connection does it use?

The connection is a standard two-prong, flat-round pin plug (shown below) that connects the battery to the recliner.

Do I need a Y1, Y2 or Y3 accessory kit?

These kits are designed to help you connect two or more modular pieces. See more here.

Do I need a PB Universal Bracket?

Our PB Universal Bracket is designed to allow for easy access to your battery underneath your reclining furniture backflap. Ease of installation depends on the model recliner/sofa/sectional you own. If you have motion seating from Parker House that is “battery-ready,” mounting screws and power cord management is already conveniently located under the backflap. For other non-battery ready products, most manufacturers have a wooden frame that can be easily mounted to and the battery can be connected to the motor under your reclining furniture.  Please be sure there is sufficient room for your battery and bracket after installation and after fully reclining your furniture.
